SCOM: Quickly find Update Rollup Version with a simple script

I wrote this little script in PowerShell. Simply CD into the drive where SCOM is installed and it will track down the SCOM install directory for you, then pull out the Update rollup version and return it to screen.

Thanks Leon. Therefore, if we apply SCOM 2019 UR2 update, then version gets updated under about->console pane and also in platform version gets populated via Operations manager PowerShell if we check Get-SCOMManagementServer to check SCOM version via powershell.

SCOM: Quickly find Update Rollup Version

Note MSP files are included in the update rollup package. Apply all MSP files that relate to a specific computer. For example, if the web console and console roles are installed on a management server, apply the MSP files on the management server. Apply one MSP file on a server for each specific role that the server holds.

Install the update rollup package on the following server infrastructure.Note Management server or servers can be updated by using either the msp or simplified management server patching user interface.

You can check the version in the console after about 10 minutes, or you can use my SCOM Management MP to verify the upgrade worked. You must allow sufficient time for the discoveries to run and update the views:

The following is a list of files that have changed inthis update rollup. If you do not have all previous update rollups installed, files other than those listed here may also be updated. For a complete list offiles that are updated, see the "Files Updated in this updaterollup" section of all update rollups that were released after yourcurrent update rollup.

Lately, we have observed a strange issue with users unable to install SCOM reporting 2019 when Update Rollup 1 is installed in the environment. Below are the steps to successfully install the component. Please make sure that you are using the correct Build numbers of Update Rollup. They are available at System Center - Operations Manager build versions. Lastly, this problem may occur with future update rollups too.

You can see the default is my file location. You need this to be the location of the file you shared out. Click override and enter the location of your update rollup patch file. Make sure you add double quotes around the location.

This week I started again my SCOM lab, and wondered how to find out which patch version of SCOM I am running. I want simple and clean solution. First I found build numbers on this link . Later I also found in my scripts SQL query from some time ago. It query Operations Manager database to get patch version of agents.

Once you have downloaded the rollup files, I like to extract and only keep the language I need, in this case, ENU (English). You will need to install these with Administrative rights, I like to use PowerShell as Local Administrator. It really does frustrate me, as there is no indication that the rollup installed correctly, (other than looking at the file version number change via File Explorer).

Once you apply a cumulative update, your SCCM version on the site server itself will not change. The site server will show the latest major SCCM release (RTM,SP1,R2). However, the new SCCM version numbers will show on your Consoles and Clients.

We recommend that you upgrade all your clients when you are applying the latest SCCM version. We release a step-by-step guide on how to update your SCCM server each time a version comes out. Just use the link next to the client version in the table to be redirected to the upgrade post.

Knowing which client version you are running in your environment lets you benefit from the SCCM (MECM) latest features. If you update your site to the latest build version but you are not updating your SCCM clients, you may not enable all features.

1810 versions (without any of the rollups or hotfixes) should have versions =Build: 8740Site Version: 5.0.8740.1000Console File Version: 5.1810.1075.1300Client Version: 5.00.8740.1003 / 5.00.8740.1004

I hope that you can answer me this question. If you have version 1802 (5.0.8634.1000) installed. Does that include the KB2961848 fix regarding illegal hex characters in database. If not what do I need to do to apply that update?

Hello; I have a doubt; I have the version: SCCM 2012 R2 5.00.7958.1000 installed in a Windows 2012R2 operating system, can I update that version of SCCM to 1710 without any problem ?, the update map would be

While SCCM 1610 here and on upgrade says Client version 5.00.8458.1000, after doing the update last night, I am seeing it being client version 5.00.8458.1007. Not sure this was changed after or not, but figured it could be helpful info.

Two questions:1: Semi-Annual Channel releases of System Center required Software Assurance (SA). Given that update rollups will include new features in some cases, will these also require SA, as some other Microsoft server products now do?2: Is there any rough estimation as to how frequently update rollups will arrive? Monthly? Semi-annually? Triannually as Configuration Manager does with Current Branch updates?

We are currently planning to release a permanent fix for this in the next rollup for Exchange 2007 (SP3 RU7). If you need the fix in the mean time, please call Exchange support and get an interim update. 2ff7e9595c
